EVERY HORSE IS UNIQUE

"Horses are a truly beautiful, elegant and intelligent animal, each with their own wonderful personality. This is what has drawn me to spend my life working with them, and after 20 years in the racing industry I have picked up a few tips and tricks about how to train, and how not to.
As each horse is unique, there really is no single method that will work on every horse.
When I work with your horse, I will take his personality and his past experiences into consideration, and will work at his pace so that he learns in a way that benefits him and you the most."

WHAT WE DO

It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks, and we believe it’s never too late when deciding to back or retrain a horse either. We work with horses of all ages, shapes and sizes, from all walks of life. From children's ponies to eventers, thoroughbreds to cobs, there aren't many problems that can't be fixed. We also work with the rider, teaching you how to cope with and prevent any bad behaviour from your horse, and giving you the skills to carry on training your horse without us once you are ready.

The best part is we can do it at your home yard!

We generally need a weeks notice for bookings, if we have appointments available earlier they will be offered to you but please don't expect to be seen within a day!

GROUNDWORK

Lunging and long reining, the first step in the backing process and an invaluable tool you can use when training your horse.

BACKING

When it's time to back a horse, there are several factors to be taken into consideration. This usually takes around 6 weeks, depending on your horse.

PROBLEM HORSES

For horses with any behavioural issue, we will always do our best to correct the problem.

RETRAINING

Most horses can be retrained to do a new job, and we treat them very much the same as unbroken horses.

                              THINGS TO CONSIDER

CAN I AFFORD IT?

Every horse is different, and some may need more time than others. Think about what you expect to achieve and how long you expect it to take. Set a timescale for how soon you need it done or based on what you can afford. If you are unsure you can discuss it with us over the phone or via email, and we will create a plan that works best for you.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

Think about the kind of results you expect. We can't make your traditional cob into a show jumping superstar, but that doesn't mean there aren't a million other jobs that he can do! Be realistic about what you want to achieve, set smaller targets and we will help you get there.

DO I HAVE THE TIME?

We prefer our clients to be hands on during the training process. This doesn't mean we won't do our work unless you are there though, so have a think about how much time you have and how involved you would like to be. If you don't have the time to be as involved as you would like, plan ahead and talk to us about booking around the holidays.
